Winchcombe, Gloucestershire
Winchcombe is an ancient, quintessential market town, known for its honey-coloured stone architecture, rich Saxon heritage, and status as a premier destination for hikers. With local locations such as Sudeley Castle & Stow-on-the-Wold, Winchcombe is the idyllic location for all the family.
The village is considered one of the best walking centres in the Cotswolds. The Cotswold Way passes directly through the town, and a network of footpaths leads to ancient woodlands, open farmland and picturesque villages such as Guiting Power, Stanton, Snowshill and Stanway.
One of Winchcombe's greatest attractions is Sudeley Castle, a historic castle and gardens with nearly 1,000 years of history. It is famous as the burial place of Katherine Parr and remains one of England's few privately owned castles open to visitors.

The village is built almost entirely from the warm honey-coloured Cotswold stone that defines the region. Its winding lanes, stone bridges, traditional cottages, and mature trees create a picturesque setting that has changed remarkably little over the centuries. Unlike some of the Cotswolds' more famous destinations, Guiting Power is generally quieter, making it feel like a lived-in rural community rather than a tourist hotspot.

The village is surrounded by gently rolling farmland and sits close to many other attractive Cotswold villages, including Lower Slaughter, Upper Slaughter, Naunton and Guiting Power. Numerous public footpaths make it an excellent base for circular walks through the countryside.
